Committee Spotlights

Government Affairs and Policy Committees

My name is Kat Miller and I’m currently serving as the Director of Government Affairs for KCHP.  This year, we have been working to re-structure our energy on pharmacy policy and government affairs, resulting in two committees.

Our Government Affairs Committee, chaired by Ellen Revak, will focus on issues closest to KCHP members – working with the KS BOP and KPhA to evaluate and drive practice in Kansas Pharmacy. One priority of this committee is ensuring information about statute, regulation, and practice changes is visible to the pharmacists in Kansas. Membership is open to all KCHP members and we are always looking for new members representing pharmacy sites across the state!

Initiatives we have engaged in during 2017 include:

  • Naloxone Protocol
  • Telepharmacy regulations, specific to retail pharmacy sites
  • Pharmacy Technician and Rural Nurse Task Force
  • KTRACS maintenance and financial support

Our new Policy Committee, chaired by Joan Kramer, will highlight the work of Kansas Pharmacists on the ASHP Councils and in the House of Delegates. By setting strong expectations for our Delegates and enhancing the transit of information from ASHP policies to KCHP members, we expect our presence and voice to represent each of you. Currently, membership on this committee is limited to Kansas Delegates and ASHP Council Members. Consider nominating yourself to represent Kansas in one of these opportunities in the future!

We are excited to see what these two committees bring to the table in 2018! Please reach out to myself or one of the committee chairs if you have any questions or ideas!
